Welcome to Regina Writes!

I’m a 31 year old Gemini who is true to form, in that I always have a million things going on at once: I have a full-time job dealing with medical insurance denials, a part-time job serving coffee, another part-time (dream) job as a pet sitter, and yet another super-part-time job as an essential oil advocate AND I’ll be starting classes again in January (after taking 2 terms off) to finish my undergraduate degree! I’m passionate about animals – all animals, as you can see from my picture! – and I’m slowly figuring out how to become the most successful, happiest version of myself that I can be.

My life has had a LOT of ups and downs and they’ve all led me to this exact moment at this exact place and I couldn’t possibly be more grateful; which is why I’m going to focus on gratitude in this blog. Recently, I’ve realized that I’m experiencing true, pure gratitude deep in my heart and soul and it is…well…overwhelming! I’ve cried a lot of tears of gratitude recently, which has been quite confusing because the depth at which I feel this emotion is usually reserved only for sadness.

So, welcome to my slightly scattered, extremely vulnerable, hopefully encouraging, but, above all, gratitude-filled blog! Let me know what you think in the comments section!

About Me

My name is Regina Christine Bishop. I’m partly named after my mom’s mom, who died before I was born. I am almost a perfect split of introvert and extrovert, according to Myers Briggs. I have long-term goals, but I struggle with making short-term goals. I love all animals, but favor cats as pets. I don’t actually love monkeys (or the like) but I respect them […]

Day 15: my last day in CVCU

So much has changed in the days I’ve been in the hospital. I have been in every level of care, in 3 different buildings and like 6 different rooms. Every day, my condition changed and, with that, the doctors’ treatment plan. Today is my 15th day in the Salem Hospital. I’ve become stable enough in the past several days to be independent within my room […]

Captain’s Log: Day 11

Captain’s Log: Day 11

SO MUCH has happened in these past eleven days. It’s been a near-unbearable roller coaster ride of grandiose proportions. After my last post, I was told by the doctors that I have, not only a ton of clots hanging out in my lungs, but one GIANT clot completely occluding my left pulmonary artery; plus, because of the back pressure, I have severe heart failure. I’m […]

This is a long one, but I’ve been gone a while.

This is a long one, but I’ve been gone a while.

It’s 2:45am. I’ve been up for about an hour now…since my spO2 dropped to 81% and the alert woke me up…watching some bullshit on Discovery channel with naked people pretending to be survivalists, while my bff snores on the fold-down sofa. Let’s back up. I’ve been so sick since the middle of December. It started with the flu, the week of the 15th, then my […]
